South Wales Police have launched a fresh appeal for the public’s help in identifying a possible witness after a man was allegedly murdered in a Cardiff park.

Dr Gary Jenkins, 54, sustained life-threatening injuries in an incident in Bute Park in the early hours of Tuesday, July 20 and died at the University Hospital of Wales on Thursday, August 5.

Jason Edwards, 25, Lee William Strickland, 36, both from Cardiff, and a 17-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have been charged with murder and are remanded in custody. A provisional trial date for each of the defendants has been given as January 17 next year and is estimated to last four weeks.

Detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection to the assault but have now made a re-appeal to identify a man who may hold vital information about the incident.
