Man extradited from Pakistan charged with murder of his South London wife

The husband of a woman who died in South London 20 years ago has been charged with her murder.

Naziat Khan died in Streatham in August 2001.

Her husband Zafar Iqbal, 61, was extradited from Pakistan on Tuesday September 14, taken straight to a West London police station and charged.

Naziat was 38 at the time of her death and had been married to Zafar Iqbal for 16 years.

According to a statement from the Crown Prosecution Serivces: “Naziat’s family have been kept informed of developments throughout and continue to be supported by specialist officers.

“The extradition was the result of collaborative work between the Metropolitan Police, the Crown Prosecution Service, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the National Crime Agency.”
