Freight train derailment causing major delays to services between London and Kent – live updates

A freight train derailment at Lee on Sunday night is expected to cause major disruption to Southeastern services between London stations and Kent until midday today.

Southeastern says train services will be affected from London Charing Cross and Gravesend, Gillingham (Kent), Crayford, Strood and also between London Cannon Street and Crayford.

Disruption has been caused after a commercial freight train crossed onto another track towards Grove Park and coaches are blocking the Sidcup line in the Lee area.

A spokesman said: “Response staff are on-site but it is not expected to be re-railed and moved until at least 12:00 on Monday 13 September at present but this will depend on further updates from the site.

“All lines are blocked between Crayford and Hither Green due to a derailed freight train in the Lee area. Trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised. This is expected until 12:00.

“Trains between Sidcup and Hither Green in both directions are unable to run at present.”

A shuttle service is in operation between Dartford and Sidcup. Departing Dartford at **:5 and **:35 each hour and departing Sidcup at **:18 and **:48 each hour.
