Zouma and Rice to start, Areola decision – West Ham predicted XI vs Southampton

West Ham go into this weekend’s action unbeaten in the Premier League and sitting second after picking up seven points out of a possible nine.

The Hammers return to action after the international break with little in the way of injury worries, with Arthur Masuaku back in first-team training and pushing for a return to the matchday squad.

David Moyes will have a number of selection decisions to make with a trio of new signings, along with Alphonse Areola, hoping to make their West Ham debuts.

After an unbeaten start, Moyes is unlikely to make wholesale changes to the unbeaten team he has selected for three consecutive matches but one change could be forthcoming.

Moyes was unhappy with his defence after the Hammers were twice unable to hold onto their lead against Crystal Palace and it is in his backline where a change may occur.

Kurt Zouma is not new to the Premier League and after seeing action with France during the international break is match-fit, ready for action and in training with West Ham.

Craig Dawson is the man whose position is most under threat with Zouma waiting in the wings to replace the 31-year-old.

If Zouma does get the nod, he will probably link up with Aaron Cresswell, Angello Ogbonna and Vladimir Coufal in the back four ahead of current number one Lukasz Fabianski.

In front of the defence, Declan Rice is expected to once again captain the side alongside his usual partner Tomas Soucek.

Alex Kral provides an extra option in midfield but is likely to make his Hammers debut off the bench.

The attacking quartet has been firing on all cylinders so far this season with 10 goals scored in three matches, meaning changes are unlikely, although deadline day signing Nikola Vlasic could come into the team.

As with Kral, Vlasic is expected to start his West Ham career on the bench rather than in the starting line-up.

As such, Michail Antonio will spearhead the Hammers attack, with support coming in the form of Pablo Fornals, Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma.
