Paris Saint-Germain chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi has labelled the Premier League’s ‘big six’ as “fabulists and failures” for their part in the European Super League plans earlier in the year.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United were the six English sides who had initially agreed to be a part of the controversial breakaway competition, but it was met with near universal condemnation from the clubs’ supporters, as well as ex-professionals, pundits and politicians.
AC Milan, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid also withdrew from the Super League, but Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus have not decided to pull out of the proposals just yet.

Now, Al-Khelaifi has slammed the six Premier League clubs for their decision to withdraw from the plans.
“I will not spend much time talking about 18 April and the ‘not-so-Super League’ because I do not like to focus on fabulists and failures,” Al-Khelaifi said at the European Clubs’ Association (ECA).
The aforementioned six Premier League clubs were all present at the meeting, apart from Chelsea, who attended the event via video.

Al-Khelaifi continued: “Together we defended the interests of European football for everyone. We relied on the resolve and strength of [UEFA] president [Aleksander Ceferin], who stood up to the midnight coup. He said ‘we will win’ and we did.
“While the three rebel clubs waste energies, twist narratives and continue to shout at the sky, the rest of us are moving forward.”
All three London clubs had protests from supporters outside their respective stadiums following the news that they would be taking part in the Super League – something that seemingly really helped the decision to withdraw from the highly controversial league.
