London property: Idyllic ‘up and coming’ neighbourhood with £1 million homes that’s East London’s answer to Kensington

When we think of the most desirable places to live in our beloved capital, it is easy to overlook the East End of town.

West London is well known for its picturesque homes, and areas such as Kensington and Chelsea are considered some of London’s most desirable areas to buy property.

On the other side of the city, there are plenty of knockout homes that are just as stunning as any you’ll find in Kensington – if not even better!

An up-and-coming area of London where you will be blown away by the dream combination of beautiful architecture and reasonable prices is London Fields in Hackney.

With independent cafes, stunning bars and a unique history, London Fields is known as one of the capital’s most fashionable areas.

The area, named after the scenic park it surrounds in south-central Hackney, is leafy and well-connected. London Fields Lido is right on your doorstep, and the trendy London Fields Brewery is waiting to welcome you for a pint.

You can also explore Broadway Market, a Victorian-style street market, or walk along Regent’s Canal and take in the sights.

The properties surrounding London Fields park are a mixture of flats, terraced and semi-detached Victorian properties.

Despite these homes having all the charm and character of houses in West London, the prices are nowhere near as high.

London Fields has a number of properties for far cheaper prices than in the likes of Kensington

Dexters, a popular estate agents with an expert branch in Hackney, has been matching Londoners with their dream homes for a number of years.

Director of Dexters’ Hackney branch Jodie Ryan said: “London Fields has been up and coming for a while now and this is reflected in the house prices which have also been rising. There are lots of incredible homes in this area and most are now going for more than £1000 per square foot.

“The area is very popular with the art crowd and we see lots of creatives and actors moving from west to east as there’s more to do here. Celebrities like Michael Fassbender, Will Young and Mick Jagger’s son have properties in the Fields.”
