A rapid response from Essex Police led to the force locating a car just before 5am today (September 2) – less than an hour after Force Control Room had been told about the stolen vehicle.
It was reported at 4.04 and there was a quick response from dispatchers and the dog section.
Automatic number-plate recognition played a massive role in the action too, and the vehicle was sighted travelling into London at 4.13.

The Metropolitan Police were then engaged to help in the final part of the hunt, which ended when the vehicle was located just before 5am.
