London weather: BBC and Met Office shares exact date of 26C heatwave showing summer isn’t over just yet

London is known for many things, from its landmarks to its celebrities, but above all the city has a reputation for its unpredictable weather.

This most recent Summer was a non-starter. Whilst there were some scorching record-breaking temperatures that exceeded the 33C mark, for the most part the Summer was summed up by torrential rain and gusty winds.

Time and time again, Londoners have been promised that a heatwave will hit the capital and make up for the months of sunshine they were robbed of, this never came. Thankfully, the latest weather forecasts are promising one last heatwave.

The BBC is forecasting a week of relatively pleasant weather, with temperatures sitting around 20-21C for most of the coming week.

The highest temperatures are set for Monday next week (September 6), with highs of 26C, but sadly Londoners will have to battle through a day of rain on Sunday (September 5) to get there.

The BBC is forecasting rain from 10am to 10pm.

The Met Office is predicting that temperatures will peak at 25C – one degree lower than the BBC’s forecast but probably still warm enough for Londoners who have been clinging onto the hope of a Summer.

In fact, the Met Office are going as far as to predict a whole week of shorts and t-shit weather. The forecaster predicts that every day between Monday (September 6) and Sunday (September 12) will see temperatures reach at least 20C.
