Television bosses have failed to reach an agreement to show Cristiano Ronaldo’s second Manchester United debut when they take on Newcastle United on Saturday, September 11.
The 36-year-old is expected to make his first appearance since re-joining the Red Devils against Steve Bruce’s side, which is straight after the international break.
However, that game is a rarity in that it is a United game not being shown live and will be played in the traditional 3pm slot at Old Trafford.
The TV picks were done three weeks ago and the biggest broadcasters have missed out showing the biggest signing of the transfer window and his homecoming in Manchester.

BT Sport have chosen to Tottenham Hotspur’s trip to Crystal Palace in the early Saturday kick-off, whilst Sky will air Chelsea’s clash with Aston Villa, before Everton against Burnley in the Monday Night Football.
Some supporters suggested about changing it, but the schedules are done well in advance for planning purposes around fans and there is now no chance that it could be revised.
It is still not certain he will start but Sky are likely to make the Red Devils’ clash with Newcastle their match choice which will be released from 5.15pm and the game of the day with extended highlights at 8.30pm.
However, Sky have already confirmed that they will show United’s trip to West Ham United on Sunday, September 19, which could possibly be his first Premier League start if he doesn’t against the Magpies.

This would’ve been a huge draw for TV bosses and would’ve inevitably gained viewers from all around the world, especially considering United’s global following.
Chelsea’s crunch clash at Tottenham is also set to be broadcasted on that Super Sunday at 4:30pm alongside the Red Devils which could be one of the highest watched in recent history.
The first time Spurs will face United since Ronaldo’s switch to England will be on Sky in late October, whilst Thomas Tuchel’s side and Arsenal are both due to take them on in November.
