Breaking: Crystal Palace seal late deadline day move for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard

Crystal Palace have completed the deadline day signing of Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard for a reported fee of £14m, potentially rising to £18.5m.

The 23-year-old joins the Eagles on a four-year contract and will provide competition up front for both Christian Beneteke and Jean-Phillippe Mateta.

Edouard leaves Celtic Park having scored 88 goals in 179 appearances for the Bhoys, also winning seven trophies in that time and finishing as the Scottish Premiership’s top scorer in each of the last two seasons.

On signing his deal at Selhurst Park, Edouard told PalaceTV: “I’m very happy to be here today. I can’t [wait] start to train with the team and to play for this club.

“Scoring goals in the Premier League may be the biggest challenge in my career. But I’m confident in myself and my teammates to be successful.”

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has been looking to sign a striker for most of the summer window, and at one point was thought to be eyeing up a move for Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah.

That move failed to materialise however, and instead Palace reignited their interest in Edouard, who had first been linked with a move to Selhurst Park back in 2019.
