More than a thousand people with connections to north London are in fear of their lives in Afghanistan, an MP has said.
Barry Gardiner, who represents Brent North, said more than 150 families attended a special surgery held by his office on Saturday to deal with the escalating crisis in Afghanistan as thousands seek to escape the country, fearing life under the Taliban.
Mr Gardiner criticised the UK Government’s handling of the situation and management of the military’s exit from the country in a tweet during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Posting a picture of a large pile of papers, he wrote: “Today I held an Afghanistan Surgery. Over 150 families came. This is the casework.
“Over 1,000 names of people who fear for their lives and need to rejoin loved ones in the UK.
“Their harrowing stories show this government’s incompetence & total failure to plan the army departure.”
