Tottenham Hotspur have announced Metz youngster Pape Matar Sarr as their fourth summer transfer.
The young midfielder arrives in north London from Ligue 1 and will return to his current employers on-loan for the 2021/22 season.
It had previously been reported that Spurs are set to pay £14.5million for the services of the youngster and that he will pen a six-year deal with Spurs.
The 18-year-old had been linked with a move to Tottenham over recent days having caught the eye with Metz following his breakthrough last term.
A defensive midfielder, he went on to make 28 appearances for the French outfit in all, scoring four goals.
Meanwhile, he had started the new campaign in fine form having started in each of Metz’ three opening matches and managed to notch an assist in the 1-1 draw against Reims last weekend.
He is also a two-time Senegalese international having been handed his debut for his country in March this year.
He becomes Nuno Espirito Santo’s fourth acquisition of the summer following the prior arrivals of Pierluigi Gollini, Cristian Romero and Bryan Gil.
So far, all three new signings have appeared for the club since their arrivals. Gil has also managed to contribute on the pitch too having teed up Harry Kane for Spurs’ opening goal in their UEFA Europa Conference League playoff win against Portuguese outfit Pacos de Ferreira.
Spurs will certainly now be keeping an eye on the Stade Saint-Symphorien to evaluate Sarr’s performances.
