Live updates as police close road near Putney Station and remove a car from scene

Several roads in south London continue to be affected by an ongoing police incident.

Putney High Street is the subject of a police road closure close to Putney station with eyewitnesses reporting that a black car has been taken from the area by crane.

An eyewitness has told MyLondon that the roads in and around the area are still affected by the police work.

They said: “Fairly major in incident outside Putney Station.

“No idea what but road closed, police van at the scene and a vehicle with a crane arm lifting up/seizing a black vehicle.”

MyLondon approache the Metropolitan Police for more information.

Wandsworth Police said in a statement on Twitter shortly after 5am on Tuesday morning: “Due to an ongoing police incident the junction at Putney High Street and Upper Richmond Road is closed as are several surrounding roads.”

Roads and traffic monitoring service Inrix has reported that the A205 and the A219 are closed due to an “accident”
