Free agents available to sign for Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham before transfer window closes

With the summer transfer window edging ever closer to shutting, there will be opportunities for Premier League clubs to complete some last minute deals.

For the clubs that have already spent a fair bit, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham, the free agent market may look a bit more attractive.

Some brilliant free signings have been made over the years, with clubs taking advantage of players’ contractual situations to benefit them.

With this being said, football.london has taken a look at a selection of the best free agents available right now that could be signed by the Gunners, the Blues or Spurs.

Nikola Maksimovic

The 29-year-old Serbia international has been without a club since leaving Napoli earlier in the summer.

Maksimovic is an experienced centre-back, and he has been linked with various clubs throughout the summer transfer window, including West Ham United.

For Chelsea, with Kurt Zoum a expected to leave, the former Napoli defender could be an option if they fail to secure the signing of Jules Kounde from Sevilla.

Jerome Boateng

The 32-year-old defender left Bayern Munich earlier in the summer after a decade-long association with the German champions.

So, now, Boateng is without a club and has been heavily linked with a return to the Premier League this month.

However, the German centre-back’s wage demands could prove an issue for any possible suitors.

Franck Ribery

Despite now being 38-years-old, signing free agent Franck Ribery could be a strong PR move from any of the London clubs.

The former France international’s best days are behind him, there’s no doubt about that, but the chance to sign someone of his calibre might be too good to turn down.

Ribery has been without a club since leaving Fiorentina upon the expiry of his short-term contract.

Nicolas Nkoulou

The 31-year-old Cameroon international has been a free agent since being released by Torino earlier in the summer.

Nkoulou has racked up 75 caps for his country and would be a very experienced defender to add to any club’s squad.

The former Lyon centre-back has been linked with a move to the Premier League before, with Leeds United being credited with an interest.

Clement Grenier

The 30-year-old left Rennes earlier in the summer after three years with the French club.

Grenier has made five appearances for France in the past and has shown his quality at every club he’s played for – including Lyon, Roma and Guingamp.

The Lyon academy product plays in the centre of midfield, more as a number 10 than anything else.
