Former Merian manager joins London boutique as EMD head

Delphine Arrighi, former Merian portfolio manager, has joined London-based GuardCap Asset Management as head of emerging markets debt.

She will strengthen the firm’s fixed income capabilities globally and will focus on building out her team in the coming months.

During her time with Merian, which she left alongside five more fund managers in June 2020, she was head of the emerging markets debt desk and also managed the Merian Emerging Market Debt and Merian Local Currency Emerging Market Debt funds.

The strategies are now managed by Alejandro Arevalo and assistant fund managers Patty Cao and Reza Karim.

Prior to her time with Merian, Arrighi (pictured) worked at Columbia Threadneedle and Standard Chartered Bank, and began her career at BNP Paribas in Paris.

London-based GuardCap Asset Management specialises in global and emerging market equities, and runs the GuardCap Global Equity and the GuardCap Emerging Markets Equity funds among others.

The firm is a subsidiary of the Canadian firm Guardian Capital, which was founded in 1962.
