A summer storm could bring strong winds and golf dime-sized hail to the London area.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for all of Southwestern Onartio Sunday. The warning comes on top of a heat warning already in effect for the region.
“Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, pea to dime size hail and heavy rain,” the national weather agency said in an alert sent out shortly before 4 p.m.
Wind gusts could reach between 70-90 km/hour in London, where up to 55 mm of rain is possible, Environment Canada said.
Earlier Sunday, the Middlesex-London Health Unit extended its heat alert for a second day, warning that the humidex will make it feel closer to 38 C. The sizzling summer temperatures are expected to last until at least Thursday before daytime highs drop below 30 C.
