Leyton stabbing live: Updates as man, 32, stabbed to death and Lea Bridge Road remains closed

A major road through Leyton has been closed in both directions after a man was stabbed to death.

Police were called at 4.31pm on Sunday, August 22 to reports of a stabbing inside a house on Lea Bridge Road.

Officers rushed to the scene with London Air Ambulance paramedics and the London Air Ambulance.

The found a 32-year-old man who had been stabbed, and he was treated at the scene before being transported to an East London hospital with life threatening injuries.

Shortly after arriving he was pronounced dead. His next of kin are yet to be informed.

An investigation is under way but at this early stage there have been no arrests.

Lea Bridge Road is and there is congestion to Aldi eastbound, with traffic building up in both directions also on Markhouse Road as people find other routes.

A video shared on Twitter shows a huge number of emergency service vehicles present, including an ambulance, police cars and paramedics.
