Detectives are appealing for help to identify a man following an unprovoked assault which is being treated as a hate crime.
Officers were called to Stamford Hill in north London at approximately 8.30pm on Wednesday after receiving a report from a third party.
Once they arrived, detectives spoke with the victim, a 64-year-old man who was making his way to a synagogue when he was struck at random.
The victim had suffered facial injuries and fell to the floor, breaking a bone in his foot. He was treated in hospital before being discharged.
No arrests have yet been made and the Met Police says enquiries continue.
The image released by detectives relates to a man they need to identify and speak with in connection with the assault.
“Anyone who recognises the man, or who witnessed the assault and is yet to speak with officers, is asked to come forward,” the force said.
