Gary Neville has urged Jesse Lingard to leave Manchester United this transfer window due to his experience at West Ham last season.
Lingard’s half-season loan spell with the Hammers saw him net nine goals and four assists in 16 games as he played a pivotal role in taking West ham to the Europa League.
David Moyes made no secret of his desire for Lingard to remain at the London Stadium last season, but has since refused to discuss the player in public whilst he is contracted to Manchester United.
Moyes’ assistant Stuart Pearce was not so coy when appearing as a guest on talkSPORT on Monday morning with the coach making his stance very clear on the matter.

“We would like him to come and join us. That has been an open secret. He was wonderful last year,” Pearce said.
“The ball is in Manchester United’s court. He is contracted to them. We would like him with us, there is no doubt about that.
“He’s a special lad and was very good around the players, the players really like him. His ability shone out last year and gave us a great option in our squad.
“You never know, but at this moment in time it looks like he is fighting for a place in the United line-up.”
A move to West Ham is also being encouraged by former Manchester United captain Neville: “Jesse needs to leave for Jesse,” he said on Sky Sports’ The Overlap
“He got pride last year playing at West Ham. He’s the man there and he’ll come back here [Manchester United] and play 15 games, and be a good squad player, but he doesn’t want that again surely after what he experienced last season.
“Jesse needs to leave for Jesse Lingard.”

Despite the stance of Moyes, Pearce and Neville, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remained adamant that Lingard was vital to his team this season.
Speaking after the 5-1 thrashing of Leeds United Solskjaer praised his starting XI but added: “Don’t forget Jesse Lingard who has re-invented himself and has come back the man that we know he is with the quality.
“He is going to play a big part as well.”
