IKEA shoppers in stitches as ‘bleak London kebab shop’ used in kitchen display

An IKEA display has ignited discussions on social media after it was spotted by a Reddit user.

The anonymous poster uploaded a photo of the backdrop of an IKEA kitchen which featured a kebab shop as its centrepiece.

The IKEA in Tottenham, one of four in the capital, still apparently has this display up according to users of the popular forum.

The photo featured part of the kitchen with some cream cabinets, a wooden worktop, a chrome sink and a translucent blind that showed a sneak peak of the outside world.

With already over 2000 upvotes, this oddity had many users talking.

The display is not one you usually see pinned up in any store

One said: “That’s just funny. Showing the reality at least” coupled with “just missing a drunk guy singing at the top of his lungs for extra realism.”

Another commented: “God that’s bleak” which was followed by “Jesus Christ it is – the picture shouldn’t be that impactful but it makes me feel more than all of the works in the Tate Modern.”

Many were commenting how ‘accurate’ the view was.

One user amazingly found the exact kebab shop in question.

IKEA in fact used the Google Image of Super Kebab located on Stoke Newington Road in East London.

It’s comically next to a Deliciously Vegan restaurant which users were not shy pointing out.

Many were in awe as to how user ‘thinkismella_rat’ found the place with so few clues aside from the shop’s half baked logo.

Others were praising how good Super Kebab’s donners were.

One said: “As far as doner goes it’s the best I know of in the Dalston and Hackney area.

This sparked another debate as to what the best places were as Reddit is accustomed to.

Whether IKEA intended for the piece to be a view of the bleak reality of London or a humorous change from a typical plain view is up to them but it clearly struck a chord with the public.
