Woman, 32, killed after two buses collide outside London station is pictured

A woman who tragically died after two buses crashed into each other at a London station has been pictured.

A single-decker on route 507 crashed into the back of another bus at Victoria Station on Tuesday, August 10.

Melissa Burr, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene, and two other people were taken to hospital.

In a statement issued through the Metropolitan Police, a spokesperson for Melissa’s family said: “We are absolutely devastated by loss and the hole that this incident has left in our lives.

“Melissa was a kind and thoughtful soul, had a quirky charm with such a bright future ahead of her.

“As a family we naturally want to understand how such a tragedy occurred, but for now we just want time and space to mourn our beautiful Melissa and send her to rest with her late father.”

Detective Constable Chris May, from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, added: “This tragic incident claimed the life of a young woman and our thoughts are with her family at this sad time.

“We are continuing to piece together the circumstances surrounding this collision and I am very keen to hear from any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police.

The bus station was closed after the incident and various emergency response teams were dispatched.

Big Issue seller Danielle Cain told the PA news agency: “It was around 8am or 8.30am and I heard a woman scream, and a load of people gathered round.

“It was awful, I knew instantly something bad had happened.

“I was told later a woman had got trapped under a bus.”

Transport for London has since launched an investigation alongside the operator of the two buses, Go Ahead London, and the Met Police.

TfL Commissioner Andy Byford said: “We are extremely saddened that a woman has tragically died after a collision with a bus and our thoughts are with her family and friends.

“We are thinking of everyone affected by this incident and will support everyone however we can.”
