Camden cat owner’s desperate plea to well-meaning public after ‘much-loved’ cat run over and killed

A North London pet owner has made a desperate plea to the public after her cat was hit by a car and killed last week.

Charlotte Duff, of Kentish Town in Camden, is begging people to “please please please stop feeding cats that have homes.”

Charlotte’s 2-year-old pet cat Paddy was hit by a car and killed at 10pm on the evening of Saturday, July 31.

Although the driver who hit Paddy stopped to apologise, Charlotte said her cat should never have strayed so far from home in the first place.

Paddy was well known among residents of Tufnell Park

The heartbroken owner said Paddy “never crossed the road until people on the other side started feeding him.”

“People don’t mean harm by doing it but they don’t think about the consequences that come with it,” she added.

She also described cars speeding along Tufnell Park road as ‘an ongoing problem’.

Charlotte said Paddy was well known and loved in the local area, among people who live around the bottom of Tufnell Park Road.

Paddy’s owner said the family have been left ‘completely heartbroken’ following his death

She said the incident “has left us completely heartbroken and no pet owner should have to see their animals the way I seen my Paddy.”

Charlotte said Paddy would have had “a happy life” but it was “taken so soon.”

She added: “Paddy was so well known and we’re so overwhelmed with all the lovely messages.

“Paddy has left the biggest hole in all of our hearts. For sure there won’t be another like him.”
