Bryan Gil delivers verdict on Tottenham transfer as £21.1m man finally set for England arrival

New Tottenham signing Bryan Gil is looking forward to the ‘new challenges’ that await him in the Premier League ahead of his arrival in north London.

The Spaniard became Spurs’ second arrival of the summer at the end of last month, completing a €25million (£21.1m) switch from La Liga outfit Sevilla – a deal that also saw Erik Lamela swap north London for Andalusia.

The 20-year-old penned a five-year contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and looks quite a coup for Nuno Espirito Santo and Fabio Paratici having built the reputation as one of the most promising young wingers in European football.

Despite having only broken through in Spanish football over the last couple of seasons, Gil has revealed that he is already looking forward to testing himself in the Premier League.

“People say that the Premier League is very physical, but I want new challenges, see how I adapt.

“The best thing for me was to go there, I am looking forward to getting there and starting to work with my new teammates.”

Whilst Gil is evidently relishing the switch to England, the youngster also admitted that it was quite the strain leaving his homeland and boyhood club, where he has spent the last 11 years of his fledgling career.

Gil continued: “It’s quite difficult, I’ve been there since I was nine years old , it’s the team I’ve grown up with, it has given me the values I have, it has made me grow personally and in football.

“Always. There will be a hole in my heart for Sevilla and I hope they are lucky and we will meet in the future.”
