Pep Guardiola gives De Bruyne and Foden Man City injury update ahead of Spurs and Arsenal games

Manchester City are already making waves this summer in the transfer market, breaking the British record and the £100million marker to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa.

The deal to bring the former Villa captain to the Etihad Stadium was confirmed after a fairly short build up to the deal, with Villa confirming that Pep Guardiola’s club had met a release clause inserted into Grealish’s contract last year that prevented the likes of Arsenal and Spurs making a similar move for the England star this summer.

City have also been strongly linked with a move for Harry Kane following Sergio Aguero’s exit this summer, though football.london understands that Spurs are unwilling to sell the England captain.

With the Premier League season starting in less than a week, the pressure is on for City to get their new recruit up to speed as they begin the defence of their title.

City might be seeing Grealish in action sooner than many would have expected in their Community Shield clash against Leicester City – but even if he does not feature, he may not have to wait long for his first taste of action for the club.

Guardiola has revealed that City stars Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden will be action “for a while”, with a fixture away to Spurs on the opening weekend of the season and a game against Arsenal two weeks later.

“Kevin still is out. I think he will come back a bit sooner than Phil apparently. But both are still out for a while.
