Elephant and Castle: Flames seen rising following incident

A huge blaze has been spotted at Elephant and Castle in London, close to the scene of a previous inferno at the station.

Despite the heavy rain, large flames can be spotted as passersby try to get away from the area.

Smoke alarms from nearby buildings can be heard ringing out as workmen appear to be evacuating the site.

Just a month ago another fire ripped through the station as around 100 firefighters were called to the scene.

Then a blaze had broken out in arches near the railway station in south London a a fireball was seen by eyewitnesses.

London Fire Brigade said it took 14 calls about today’s blaze which they are now bringing under control.

The fire was in a building that was still being built.
