London’s Oxford Street on lockdown as girl, 3, rushed to hospital after horror crash | UK | News

Images shared on social media show police have cordoned off the busy London street. One person tweeted: “Oxford Street #London road closed Police incident.” Officers were blocking off the area near the Body Shop on the corner of James Street and Oxford Street.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to Oxford Street, close to the junction with James Street, at 17:59hrs following reports that a child had been struck by a cyclist.

“Officers attended and found a three-year-old girl who had been knocked to the ground.

“They provided first aid until the arrival of the London Ambulance Service.

“The child has been taken to a west London hospital as a precaution but her injuries have been assessed as non-life threatening and non-life changing.

“The cyclist stopped at the scene and has been spoken to by officers.

“A cordon was in place to facilitate the emergency response but has now been lifted.”

According to reports, there was an ambulance called as well as three police vans.

It is believed a person was carried away in a stretcher.
