Tammy Abraham hands Arsenal major transfer boost as Edu eyes £40m Chelsea signing

Tammy Abraham has admitted he “loves” playing football at the Emirates Stadium amid interest from Arsenal.

Abraham scored what turned out to be the winning goal in Chelsea ‘s 2-1 pre-season friendly win over the Gunners on Sunday afternoon in north London.

The 23-year-old, who has two years remaining on his deal at Stamford Bridge, has barely featured under Thomas Tuchel since the German coach took over from Frank Lampard at the start of the year and has now been linked with a move away from west London.

The England international has been identified as a target by Edu and Mikel Arteta as the latter looks to bolster his attacking options ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

However, according to numerous reports, Abraham will cost £40million if he is to leave the Blues over the next month, so Arsenal will have to splash the cash.

Abraham has recently flirted with the idea of becoming a Gunners player, when speaking after his decisive goal in Chelsea’s narrow win at the weekend.

“I love coming to the Emirates,” he said to Chelsea TV. “Even if it’s only a friendly, I always love scoring goals. Luckily it was the winner again.”

The England striker has now netted in all three of his appearances for Chelsea at the Emirates, with two coming in the Premier League and one coming on Sunday in pre-season.

This is not the first time Abraham has spoke about his love for the north London club, with the Blues striker revealing that he was an Arsenal supporter when he was a kid, and spoke about his admiration of Gunners icon Thierry Henry.

“To be honest I was an Arsenal fan,” Abraham said back in 2017, as per Eurosport.

“When you’re young and you choose who to support, if it’s a family thing, it’s a family thing. Luckily for me, it was a family thing, so it wasn’t really a problem at Chelsea.

“Someone I looked up to was Thierry Henry. His variations of finishing, his movement, the way he dribbles.

“Someone like that has a key impact on me. I would love to be as big as him and maybe even better,” the Chelsea centre-forward concluded.

Everything is pointing towards Abraham wanting the move to the Emirates before the window closes at the end of this month, but it is yet to be seen whether Arsenal will match Chelsea’s £40million asking price.
