Putney Heath live: Updates as motorcyclist fighting for life after ‘serious crash’

An air ambulance landed in a South West London park after a ‘serious collision’ nearby.

It was later confirmed that a man is fighting for his life after his motorcycle was involved in a crash with a car.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Wimbledon Park Side after the crash shortly after 6pm on Sunday August 1.

The air ambulance was seen landing on Putney Heath.

The crash happened near to the junction with Inner Park Road and police have warned that road closures are in place.

People are also being told to avoid the area.

London Ambulance Service is in attendance along with officers from the Metropolitan Police.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called to the junction of Wimbledon Park Side and Selhurst Close, at 6.26pm on Sunday, August 1 to reports of a collision involving car and a motorcycle.

“Officers attended along with paramedics from London Ambulance Service (LAS). The motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, was found seriously injured. London’s Air Ambulance was called to the scene.

“He was taken to hospital. His condition has been assessed as life-threatening.

“A scene involving road closures has been put in place.

“Enquiries continue into the circumstances.”
