Croydon stabbing live: Updates as Mitcham Road closed after boy, 17, stabbed in daylight attack

A busy road in Croydon has been cordoned off by police after a teen boy was stabbed in a morning attack.

Police were called to Mitcham Road, South London, at 9.36am on Monday (August 2) after reports of a stabbing.

They said the victim, 17, was taken to hospital with a stab injury to his leg.

Pictures from the scene show the cordon stretched across the road, while a police car is parked across the road.

“Just left the house and see the road is closed,” a resident said. “Apparently because of a suspected stabbing? Very depressing.”

The A236 is closed in both directions and drivers have been warned of “slow traffic” due to the ongoing incident. The 264 bus route is on diversion.
