Good afternoon and welcome along to live coverage of Chelsea’s pre-season friendly against Arsenal as The Mind Series kicks off in north London.
The pre-season campaign takes a step up for both sides as they kick off the triangular tournament, with fellow capital rivals Spurs also involved ahead of the new Premier League campaign in a competition to raise money for Mind, the mental health charity.
Sunday’s game is the second of a double-header on the day as Chelsea and Arsenal’s women’s teams also face off at the Emirates.
For the Blues, German trio Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Antonio Rudiger are all expected to feature where a capacity crowd is also anticipated.
Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante and Kurt Zouma, who is being heavily linked with a move away from the club, are also available for the game, as are Michy Batshuayi, Kenedy and Tiemoue Bakayoko.
Mikel Arteta could field his new recruits in Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Taveres in front of Arsenal’s own fans for the first time.
Chelsea have played two friendlies so far this summer, beating Peterborough and Bournemouth and saw their training camp in Ireland disrupted by a positive Covid-19 case.
Arsenal too have had their preparations hampered by coronavirus which saw them have to cancel their participation in the Florida Cup.
The Gunners have played four friendliues so far, beating Millwall and Watford 4-1 while losing to Hibernian and drawing with Rangers.
