Emergency crews responded about 7 p.m. Thursday to a report of a teen struck by a vehicle in the 1600-block of Huron Street, east of Highbury Avenue, London police said. His injuries are not considered life threatening.

Police said the teen, whose exact age is unknown, was struck by a car after grabbing onto the back of a moving vehicle that passed him, an investigation revealed. Police have not laid any charges in connection to the incident.

London police are warning of the dangers of hanging onto moving vehicles and are urging parents to speak to their children about the risks of this activity.

“While we have heard about individuals attaching to vehicles in the winter months . . . this type of practice is dangerous year-round, and could result (in) disastrous consequences,” Sgt. Sean Harding, said in a statement.
