Chelsea star Tammy Abraham sent transfer message amid £40m Arsenal rumours

Arsenal are interested in signing Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham this summer, with the Blues open to selling the 23-year-old.

Chelsea are willing to part ways with the England international should they receive an offer of £40million for his services.

Abraham, who has two years remaining on his current contract in west London, has featured just seven times under Thomas Tuchel in competitive competition since the German coach was appointed Blues boss in January.

The Chelsea academy graduate does not appear to be in Tuchel’s long-term plans and Arsenal are looking to take advantage of that as they look for a new striker.

With the futures of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah – who both have less than 12 months remaining on their respective deals with the Gunners – far from certain, Mikel Arteta could look to bring Abraham in this summer.

This is something that has been backed by former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn, who thinks Abraham moving up to north London makes perfect sense for all three parties.

Speaking to GentingBet, Winterburn said: “Arsenal have been linked with Tammy Abraham from Chelsea.

“He certainly would fit the bill of recent Arsenal signings, young with a point to prove.

“People will question his consistency but what you want is for these young players to get a run in the team.

“Is he going to get a run in a team if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is playing well? Probably not unless Aubameyang can be switched to the left-hand side – although you then need to leave out either Nicolas Pepe or Bukayo Saka.

“With Abraham, there’s potential there and development for a young, young player.

“So, I think it’s an option that Arsenal, although with Alexandre Lacazette being linked with a move away, it could be just a name that has been thrown into a hat.”
