Man rescued by firefighters after collision with bus leaves his car on its side on busy road

A man has been taken to hospital after his car was left overturned on a busy road after a collision with a bus.

Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade were called out to help a man after the crash on Croydon Road, in Wallington.

Pictures of the scene, show the car flipped on its side, completely blocking one of the lanes. Parts of the car were ripped off during the crash and lay by the side of the road.

The incident took place shortly after 10am today (Thursday, July 29).

After being rescued by firefighters the man was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called by London Ambulance Service (LAS) at 10:13hrs on Thursday, 29 July to reports of a collision at Croydon Road, Beddington.

“Officers and LAS and London Fire Brigade (LFB) attended. At the scene two vehicles, a single-decker bus and a Hyundai had been in collision.

“One man was taken by LAS to a South London hospital. We await an update on his condition.

“Anyone who witnessed this collision or has information should call police on 101 or Tweet @MetCC quoting 1995/29JUL.”
