Croydon stabbing: Boy, 16, knifed to death during disturbance at house

A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death during a disturbance at a house in Croydon, south London.

The incident happened in the early hours of this morning and a police cordon is in place, with a forensic tent erected inside.

Police were called to an estate at 12.46am to reports of a disturbance inside a home, My London reports.

They found the young boy inside suffering from stab injuries.

Officers provided first aid before the arrival of the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.

But sadly the 16-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene at 1.34am.

No arrests have been made.

People on the estate are said to be ‘in tears’.

One resident living in the area told My London: “Police were doing door to door enquires at half past 2 this morning.

“I didn’t see the commotion, all I heard was a helicopter going round and round and when I woke up, I saw loads of blue lights.

“I think London is getting worse in general.”

The full statement from the Metropolitan Police says: “Police were called at 00:46hrs on Thursday, 01 July to reports of a disturbance at a residential address on Bracken Avenue in Shrublands, Croydon.

“Officers attended and found a 16-year-old male [no further details] inside suffering from stab injuries.

“They provided first aid prior to the arrival of the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.

“Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 01:34hrs. Next of kin have been informed.

“Formal identification has not taken place. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

“No arrests have been made at this stage.

“Homicide detectives from the Specialist Crime Command have been informed.
