Covid-19 infections have fallen across south east London, with every borough recording a decrease in case numbers.
The latest case rates have been released for every local authority to England, and show Covid-19 cases slowly falling as the UK as a whole also records an overall drop in cases.
Nationally, 293 out of the 315 local areas in England (93 per cent) have seen a fall in cases, and only 22 (seven per cent) a rise.
The figures are accurate for the seven days up to July 23 – with most recent days excluded for accuracy.
They are compared with a week prior – the seven days up to July 16.
The figures are based on the number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in either a lab-reported or rapid lateral flow test, by specimen date.
The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.
Lewisham has seen the biggest drop in rates – with the borough recording a new rate of 475.1 (1,453 cases) compared with 326.6 (1,109 cases) the week before.
Nearby in Dartford there has also been a significant drop in case rates – with a recorded rate of 455.6 (513 cases) now, compared with 547.9 (617 cases) beforehand.
In Bromley, the rate has also fallen significantly with a recorded rate of 491.4 (1,633 cases) in the seven days to July 23, compared with a rate of 407.4 (1,354 cases) in the seven days to July 16.
Southwark has seen a fall as well going from a rate of 511.9 (1,632 cases) to 435.0 (1,387 cases).
In Greenwich, case rates fell from 397.6 (1,145 cases) in the seven days to July 16, to 356.7 (1,027 cases) in the seven days to July 23.
Though the smallest drop in the region, Bexley has also seen a fall – with the rates in this borough dropping from 442.6 (1,099 cases) to 431.0 (1,070 cases).
Nationally, Redcar and Cleveland has the highest rate – with 1,321 new cases in the seven days to July 23 which is the equivalent of 963.2 per 100,000 people.
This is however a fall from a rate of 1,532.6 in the previous seven days.
Middlesbrough has the second highest rate, down from 1,353.4 to 940.6, with 1,326 new cases.
Stockton-on-Tees has the third highest rate, down from 1,171.0 to 830.0, with 1,638 new cases.
The list has been calculated by the PA news agency based on Public Health England data published on July 27 on the Government’s coronavirus dashboard.
