A Hertfordshire pub has been forced to shut for three days after staff members were ‘pinged’ by the NHS Test and Trace app.
The Colney Fox is a popular pub in the town but has shut due to staff self-isolating, despite none of them testing positive.
The news was confirmed on the pub’s Facebook page that the ‘difficult decision’ to close at 7pm tonight until midday Wednesday (July 28) had been made.

The NHS app has come under fire in recent weeks due to the amount of people getting ‘pinged’ and told to self-isolate despite many testing negative.
The app works when people enable exposure notifications which then let you know if you’ve come into contact with someone who’s tested positive recently.

The pub’s Facebook post read: “Sadly the inevitable has happened and the chain reaction of “The NHS Ping” has graced the doors of The Colney Fox.
“This unfortunately means that we have team going in to isolation which puts a strain on our workforce. All of the team members off have tested negative and are ok.

“The safety of our team and guests is paramount to us, as is the service and food quality we provide.
“Rather than stretching the remaining team to limits that would have a detrimental effect on our food and service delivery, we have made the difficult decision to close at 7pm on Sunday (today) until Midday Wednesday.
“By working this way, we can ensure we have sufficient numbers of people available to work and provide you with the best possible service and food quality that you have come to expect of us and in the safest environment.
“We do hope that you understand this decision but should you have any questions, please call us on 01727823698.”
