Woman fined £1,760 after customers seen fleeing hair salon raided by police in CCTV footage

A woman has been fined £1,760 after customers fled a hair salon raided by police during lockdown.

Tina Howarth, 35, has been ordered to pay up by the courts after failing to close Euphoria Tanning, Nail and Beauty salon on Glyndwr Road, Cwmbran, during lockdown at the start of the year.

Appearing in Newport Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Howarth, of Broadway, Pontypool, was ordered to pay a £1,760 fine, a £176 surcharge and costs of £85 for failing to close a business “not permitted to be open” under Alert Level 4 coronavirus restrictions on January 16, 2021.

She has been given until August 16 to pay the balance of £2,021.
