New Cross Gate station incident live: Updates as person hit by train and died at the scene

A person has been hit by a train in South London this evening at New Cross Gate station.

The London Ambulance Service rushed to the scene where the person was injured, but sadly they later died.

An LAS spokesperson said: “We were called at 3:02pm today (22 July) to reports of a person injured at New Cross Gate Underground Station.”

National Rail has shared that trains are currently disrupted because of an earlier incident where a person has sadly been hit by a train.

Lines are disrupted between London Bridge/Canada Water and Norwood Junction/Crystal Palace via New Cross Gate.

A statement from National Rail said: “Trains may still be delayed by up to 30 minutes or cancelled whilst service recovers. Disruption is expected to continue until approximately 19:00.”
