Dive into Tottenham’s 2021/22 season with our special edition club annual

New Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno Espirito Santo on the training pitches with his players ahead of the new Premier League season

A new era has begun at Tottenham Hotspur with the club finally appointing a successor to Jose Mourinho in the shape of his compatriot Nuno Espirito Santo.

The fixture schedule has not been kind to the Portuguese as he has the toughest possible start at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as champions Manchester City come to town on August 15 to kick off both club’s Premier League campaign.

It is expected to be a summer of change at Spurs as new managing director of football Fabio Paratici looks to use the transfer market to freshen up Espirito Santo‘s squad after the club’s recent disappointing seasons.

The club’s non-internationals are already back in pre-season training at Hotspur Way under their new boss, while away from the training complex, Harry Kane and Giovani Lo Celso will play in the European Championships and Copa America final respectively.

In the weeks ahead, Tottenham have a very different pre-season friendly campaign organised with the usual thoughts of matches abroad shelved for a run of friendlies closer to home against Leyton Orient, Colchester, MK Dons and local rivals Chelsea and Arsenal.

Espirito Santo will be working hard behind the scenes and during those friendlies to imprint his philosophy and ideas on his players and the club as a whole ahead of that huge opening clash against Pep Guardiola’s men.
