London crime: The names and faces of the 22 teenagers killed in London this year

Following the death of a 16 year-old-boy last weekend, the number of teenagers tragically killed in London has risen to 22.

Knife crime continues to be a problem throughout the city, with children as young as 14 years old falling victim to the deadly consequences.

In comparison, across the whole of last year, 17 teenagers were killed in violent attacks in the capital.

If teenage deaths continue at the current rate, this will be the worst year for young homicides in London since 2008.

Here are the names and faces of the 22 teenagers killed by knife or gun crime in London this year:

Anas Mezenner, 17

Victim Anas Mezenner tragically died after being stabbed aged 17

Anas Mezenner, 17, was rushed to hospital after being stabbed on West Green Road, Haringey on January 19.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics the teenager died in hospital at 4.25am the next morning.

Four teenagers appeared in court charged in connection with the death of the 17-year-old.

Three defendants aged 17, and one aged 14, appeared at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, April 13 and pleaded not guilty to murder and GBH wounding with intent.

Romario was said to have loved bike riding

Romario Opia, 15, was stabbed to death near Archway on January 25 and died at the scene.

According to reports, Romario had gone out to get some food from a chip shop when he was stabbed.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested in the early hours of Thursday, January 28 and charged with murder the next day.

A second 16-year-old boy was also charged with his murder on Thursday, June 24.

Hani Solomon, 18

Hani Solomon

Hani Solomon was killed on February 11

Hani Solomon, 18, died on February 11 after he was stabbed close to Parsons Green Tube station.

Scotland Yard confirmed he died of a knife wound to the chest.

Ahmed Fatah, 18 of Fulham Road, SW6 and two 17-year-olds have been charged with murder and causing grievous bodily harm to a second victim.

Drekwon Patterson was just 16-years-old when he was stabbed to death in Wembley

Drekwon Patterson was fatally stabbed on Preston Road on February 18.

Police were called to the scene by London Ambulance Service shortly after 11.30pm to a report of a 16-year-old boy with stab injuries.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. But despite the efforts of emergency services, he died shortly before 9am on Friday, February 19.

Chief superintendent Sara Leach, in charge of policing in Brent, said: “It is another tragedy that a boy of just 16 years old has died as the result of a knife crime.

“My thoughts are with his family at this time and my officers, alongside homicide detectives, are doing everything they can to identify and arrest those responsible.”

Ahmed Beker, 19

Ahmed’s cousin was also stabbed to death in 2019

Ahmed Beker, 19, was stabbed in Paddington at around 9.13pm on February 26, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police appealed for information about two mopeds which were seen driving erratically against the traffic around the time of the incident.

On March 1 officers recovered a moped from the Grand Union Canal near to Great Western Studios, Alfred Road.

Omar Ahmed, 19, and Jaden Forde, 18, have been charged with the murder of Mr Beker.

A third man was arrested on suspicion of the murder, and subsequently released on bail to a date in early August.

Tai Jordan O’Donnell, 19, was found with stab injuries in Croydon at around 12.12pm on March 3, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His devastated friends described him as a “really happy” 19-year-old.

Kamila Ahmad, 22, was charged with murder.

Mazaza-Owusu-Mensah was tragically killed in Abbey Wood, South London on Saturday

Mazaza Owusu-Mensah, 18, was stabbed in the chest during a fight in Edington Road, Abbey Wood, at around 5.34pm on March 6, and died at the scene.

Mohammed Al-Shihabi, 25, of Greenwich, was charged with murder on March 15.

Nikolay Vandev, 19

Nikolay Vandev, 19, was stabbed in Penshurst Road, Tottenham, at around 1.54pm on March 8.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An 18-year-old man was taken to hospital with stab wounds and another 18 year-old man was treated for minor injuries.

Police have charged two boys, aged 15 and 17, with murder.

Hussain Chaudhry, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene when paramedics arrived

Hussain Chaudhry, 18, was stabbed and killed in Lea Bridge Road in front of his family’s home on March 17.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and a post-mortem declared the cause of death a stab wound to the neck.

Two other people related to the victim suffered slash injuries to their hands.

A friend who went to college with Hussain said: “He was the most clean-hearted and kindest person I know.”

Marvin Ward, 18, and Alexis Morris, 18, were charged with murder.

Levi Ernest-Morrison, 17, was fatally stabbed

Levi Ernest-Morrison, 17, was found stabbed in Hazel Grove at around 7.19pm on April 10.

He was pronounced dead shortly after 8pm.

Nichola Leighton, 36, of Lockwood Close, Sydenham, and three boys aged 14, 15, and 17 were charged with murder.

Fares Maatou was stabbed to death in Newham in broad daylight

Fares Maatou, 14, was stabbed in broad daylight on Barking Road, Canning Town, on April 23.

The young boy was pronounced dead just after 4.30pm.

Police believe he was stabbed with a samurai sword over an electric scooter he had at the time he was attacked.

Two boys, 14 and 15, have been charged with murder. They cannot be named for legal reasons.

Junior Jah was stabbed to death in broad daylight on April 26

Abubakar Jah, 18, also known as Junior Jah, was shot and stabbed in Canning Town on April 26.

His brother, Ahmed Jah, was stabbed to death nearby at the age of 21 in April 2017.

Detective chief inspector Mark Wrigley, leading the investigation said: “The investigation is still at a very early stage and we’re in the process of carrying out detailed forensic, CCTV analysis and house to house enquiries to establish the exact circumstances around this killing.

“We believe that Junior was approached by a man in a car and was shot and stabbed by that same man.”

Azadeeq Mohamed, 18

Azadeeq Mohamed was the victim of a fatal stabbing on Bank Holiday Monday (May 31).

The teenager was found by officers in a Tennis court area of Montrose Park, Edgware, suffering from stab wounds just before 6pm.

He was treated by London’s Air Ambulance and the London Ambulance Service at the scene, but despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead just after 7pm.

Daniel Laskos was stabbed to death

Daniel Laskos, 16, was found with stab injuries after police were called to a fight in Church Road, Romford, at 6.41pm on May 7.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7.07pm.

Joshua Kerr, 18, Rakeem Green-Matthews, 18, Loushawn Barnes, 18, Callum Hands, 19, a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy have been charged with murder.

Taylor Cox, 19

Taylor Cox, 19, was fatally shot in Islington last Tuesday (June 8)

Taylor Cox, 19, died from a gunshot injury to the head on Tuesday, June 8).

The shooting took place in broad daylight at Hornsey Rise Gardens in Islington at around 4.24pm, but Taylor died a short time later in hospital.

The incident took place just metres from a primary school.

Jaden McGibbon has been charged with murder.

Denardo Brooks (L) died in hospital after the Streatham stabbing

Denardo Samuels-Brooks, 19, died in hospital after being stabbed in Prentis Road just off Tooting Common shortly before 4.15pm on June 10.

The victim was rushed to hospital with stab wounds to the chest for urgent medical care but he died a little over 30 minutes later.

Jalan Woods-Bell was fatally stabbed

Denardo ‘AD’ Samuels-Brooks, 15, was stabbed to death in the street on his way to school in Hayes.

Police were called to reports of a fight on Blyth Road, close to Global Academy – a college for students aged 14-19 – just before 8.35am on Friday, June 11.

Jalan was found with stab injuries and died at the scene in Hayes.

Another 15-year-old has been charged with his murder. He cannot be named for legal reasons.

Tashawn Watt, 19

Tashawn Watt was stabbed to death at the back gate of the property in Sydenham while his mum Denise Campbell was there.

A terrified Denise called 999 from her home in Miall Walk shortly after 9.30pm on June 25, but there was nothing paramedics could do.

Tashawn Tyreese Anthony Watt, known as Tata by friends and family, died on the pavement shortly afterwards.

Camron Smith, 16

Camron Smith

The 16-year-old Croydon boy was allegedly “chased and stabbed to death after answering the door to a group of males armed with zombie knives”, a court heard.

Camron died after being stabbed inside a residential address in Bracken Avenue, part of the Shrublands Estate in Croydon, on July 1.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, rushed to the scene at around 12.46am following reports of a “disturbance”, but the teen was pronounced dead around 45 minutes later.

Tamim Ian Habimana died from a single stab wound

The teen, from Eltham, died from a single stab wound on Monday, July 5.

Police were called to Woolwich New Road at 5.23pm to reports of an incident and officers rushed to the scene.

They gave first aid until the London Ambulance Service arrived but despite everyone’s best efforts, Tamim was pronounced dead at 6.08pm.

Keane Flynn-Harling, 16

Keane Flynn-Harling, 16, was found stabbed in Oval Place, Lambeth on July 5.

Police and the London Ambulance Service were called at 11.45pm to the scene, but despite their best efforts on arrival, the teen could not be saved and was pronounced dead.

Unnamed boy, 16

Emergency services attended the scene at Bensham Manor Road, Thornton Heath at 3pm on July 10, where the victim was found suffering from stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition by members of the public, but despite the best efforts of medical staff, he died.

A murder investigation has been launched. No arrests have been made and the victim’s next of kin have been informed.

Two men, aged 19 and 22, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
