Scottish National Championships in track and field are back for 2021 after a two-year absence – and we’re thrilled to announce a double helping of live stream coverage for the first time ever.

We’ve agreed a partnership again with experienced athletics broadcast providers Vinco to cover four days of action from Grangemouth and Aberdeen.

The 4J Studios Senior/U17 Champs are coming up on the weekend of August 14/15 at Grangemouth and then the 4J Studios Age Groups are in Aberdeen on the weekend of August 28/29 – taking in competition for U20/U15/U13 athletes.

This will be the first time we’ve ever broadcast live the Age Groups and we’d urge athletes and coaches to enter online now and take up the National Championship opportunity – which had to be shelved last year due to the global pandemic.

Vinco will provide a free live stream service across their website as well as significant linked social media activity. There will also be coverage of clips on our scottishathletics You Tube channel, including a handful of interviews.

We will also be Tweeting from the venues with Bobby Gavin of www.thatonemoment.co.uk providing superb images as usual to augment and complement the online stream.

‘I’m delighted Vinco will once again be working on the 4J Studios National Championship events in Scotland,’ said Matthew Quine of Vinco.

‘We’ve covered the Senior/U17 Champs a number of times in the past and have been to the venues at both Grangemouth and Aberdeen. Hopefully once again they provide the backdrop to exciting 2021 action.

‘The commitment to four days of streaming means every National Championship age group is covered.

‘It is the first time the Scottish Age Groups will have been live streamed and, in our experience, viewing figures will be particularly high for the younger age groups because there’s a great chance for family and friends of young athletes to tune in and support from the length and breadth of Scotland – or even further afield.

‘In total, Vinco’s staffing commitment to each event will be close to double figures with camera operators, commentators, social media team and I’m pleased to say we’re already recruiting in Scotland.

‘We look forward to exciting action at Grangemouth and Aberdeen and showcasing the return of track and field after the pandemic.

‘It’s great to showcase Scottish events on our platforms alongside top European events such as the Continental Tour in Gothenburg, ATLETICAGENEVE and Meeting International de Nice.’

‘We’re really pleased today to announce two live streams for Grangemouth and Aberdeen,’ said Colin Hutchison, chief executive of scottishathletics.

‘It is a big commitment from ourselves and I want to thank 4J Studios for their continued backing of the track and field outdoor season – across various events – and for supporting our ambitious plans in terms of media and communications.

‘Our Events team and our wider staff are working very hard with venues to deliver National Championship opportunities again in 2021 and, of course, with volunteers and qualified Officials to make those events happen.

‘Now we’re working with Vinco and other partners to try and elevate the profile of the events and promote the sport.

‘I feel it is important therefore that we present the best possible image of the sport and that means as many athletes, and their coaches and clubs, committing to entering the events in order to deliver strong participation and competition.

‘We’d a great start to that at Kilmarnock over the weekend with Combined Events and Masters Championships (after 3000m age group champs previously at Linwood) and I’m sure there will be a lot of excitement building for Grangemouth and Aberdeen.’

Vinco also link into North America via  www.runnerspace.com – so we hope the track and field community will support Grangemouth and Aberdeen in terms of entries.
