UK Gov ‘ruling nothing out’ as Indian variant circumstances double

Boris Johnson has stated the UK Government is “ruling nothing out” in tackling the Indian variant of concern as new figures present circumstances have greater than doubled in every week.

Data from Public Health England (PHE) exhibits an increase in circumstances from 520 to 1,313 this week within the UK, with the company saying circumstances have been “rising in the neighborhood” and it was assessing the influence and severity of the variant.

Dr Susan Hopkins, Covid-19 strategic response director at PHE, stated: “We must act collectively and responsibly to make sure that variants don’t influence on the progress we’ve all made to drive down ranges of Covid-19 and the elevated freedom that brings.”

Speaking at a main college in Ferryhill, County Durham, earlier, the Prime Minister stated: “It is a variant of concern, we’re anxious about it. At the second there’s a very wide selection of scientific opinion about what might occur.

“We wish to be sure we take all of the prudential, cautious steps now that we might take, so there are conferences occurring at present to think about precisely what we have to do.

“There is a spread of issues we might do, we’re ruling nothing out.”
