Police are treating this as a hate crime

Worshippers at an east London mosque have been pelted with eggs and stones .

It occurred on Tuesday night time at the Illford Islamic Centre at 11pm.

Police say they’re investigating a hate crime after the gadgets had been thrown from a silver property automobile.

A spokesman for the mosque, in Albert Road, stated:

“During Taraveeh prayers our masjid was attacked by a couple of burly trying white males, shaven headed, in a drive by egg assault.

“The assault occurred in a short time and though we had 4 safety guards, it was onerous to see precisely what the registration was.

“The guards had been involved that they might have pushed into them.”

Redbridge detective chief superintendent Stephen Clayman stated police had stepped up patrols within the space.

“We take all stories of hate crime very critically and have launched an investigation,” he stated.

“Incidents like this won’t be tolerated and my officers will probably be endeavor enhanced patrols within the space to offer reassurance to the area people and guests to the mosque.”
