Hyde Park protest: Police injured as bottles thrown in violent clashes at anti-lockdown rally

Police officers had been left with blood streaming down their faces after anti-lockdown protests turned violent.

Video from Hyde Park in London this night reveals objects being launched at Metropolitan Police officers as they tried to interrupt up crowds of maskless protesters.

Officers had been chased out of the park by a whole bunch of shouting women and men, with punches and kicks thrown at the fleeing police.

At one level a comparatively small group of police had been surrounded by protesters, who screamed abuse and hurled objects their approach.

One man repeatedly chanted “disgrace on you” and one other “Satan” whereas the mass of lockdown sceptics launched beer cans at the emergency service employees.

One male officer was pictured with blood pouring down his face, whereas one visibly upset feminine officer had a head wound.

Another injured policeman was seen with blood working down his nostril onto his high-vis vest.

A Met spokesperson mentioned: “Eight officers had been injured as they labored to disperse crowds in Hyde Park this night. Missiles together with bottles had been thrown in small pockets of dysfunction.

“Two officers had been taken to hospital. Thankfully, they don’t seem to be believed to be significantly injured.

“Three folks had been arrested for offences together with assault on police and are actually in custody.”

Earlier in the day crowds gathered for the Unite for Freedom rally which trooped by means of central London calling for ‘medical freedom’.

The group, which was launched to oppose coronavirus lockdowns in the UK, are actually demonstrating towards Covid passports and what they name “coerced vaccinations”.

The crowd chanted “arrest Matt Hancock” and “arrest Boris Johnson ” whereas a person with a megaphone instructed onlookers “your authorities are mendacity to you, they’re terrorists”.

“When you set that masks in your face you’re solely prolonging this dystopian nightmare and telling your authorities that you’ll obey,” one other girl shouted at members of the general public.

Signs saying “freedom is non-negotiable” had been waved in the air as folks let off brightly colored smoke bombs.

A big inflatable syringe was seen waving in the air above the maskless crowd.

This week the UK’s plummeting case and loss of life charges had been linked to the coronavirus vaccine programme’s success, whereas Prime Minister Boris Johnson has hailed the lockdown as driving down infections.
