All That Glitters contestants | Meet the aspiring jewellery makers

Katherine Ryan’s new BBC present All That Glitters: Britain’s Next Jewellery Star kicked off on thirteenth April, and we’re already fairly impressed with the degree of expertise.

Hosted by Ryan, the present sees eight jewellery makers challenged to show their expertise with Shaun Leane and Solange Azagury-Partridge judging the opponents’ efforts.

Over the subsequent six weeks, the contestants might be whittled down till only one is topped Britain’s subsequent massive jewellery title.

But who will it’s? And who has already been despatched residence?

Dan

From: Somerset

Dan is a recent jewellery designer who specialises in ready-to-wear collections and one-off, bespoke designs. He began his coaching at the age of 16 and has over 25 years expertise in jewellery making and design.

Dan’s necklace was chosen in the first episode, and he was additionally the first to be topped jeweller of the week.

Nicola

Nicola designs architecturally impressed jewellery. She graduated from Hereford College of Arts with a First Class BA (Hons) in Contemporary Design Craft and was additionally a Goldsmiths’ Precious Metal Bursary Award winner. In 2015, she was voted ‘one to observe’ by Craft and Design Magazine.

Hugo

Hugo Johnson is a diamond mounter and designer of handmade, bespoke tremendous jewellery. He educated at the Goldsmiths’ Centre in London and has been nominated as a finalist in Retail Jeweller’s Rising Stars 30 Under 30. In 2018, he was made a Freeman of the Goldsmiths’ Company and of the City of London, and in 2019, he was awarded a gold award in the class of smallworkers and modelmakers junior at the Goldsmiths’ Craftsmanship and Design Awards.

Lee owns his personal jewellery enterprise, repairing damaged items and making his personal bespoke items. He works in silver, gold, platinum, palladium and copper incorporating diamonds, gem stones, pearls, beads and artwork glass handmade by John Ditchfield.

Kim

Kim Styles is a sculptural jeweller. She educated at Sir John Cass School of Art, the place she gained a BA Honours Degree. She specialises in bespoke designs, specifically wedding ceremony jewellery and wedding ceremony hair equipment. Kim says she creates jewellery in the “conventional method” from sheet and wire in her design studio in Hampshire.

Sonny Bailey-Aird is a educated goldsmith and self-taught jeweller who creates handmade, rustic items. He works primarily on fee and  every bit is constituted of treasured metals and gem stones sourced straight from stone sellers and lapidaries.

Sri Lanka-born jewellery designer Tamara specialises in tough diamonds and gem stones. She graduated from the Royal College of Art with a masters’ diploma in Goldsmithing and Jewellery in 1997, and has over 20 years value of expertise in jewellery making. Tamara Gomez Jewellery relies out of a studio at Cockpit Arts in Central London

Naomi – OUT

Naomi is a trainee goldsmith. She studied Jewellery and Metal Design at the University of Dundee’s Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design.

Naomi was the first contestant to be despatched residence.

Following her exit, she stated; “I’m glad that I pushed myself to enter this. I feel that it was very difficult for me, however I really feel I’m braver than I feel and I can do greater than I feel I can!”
