Plaistow live: Murder investigation updates as victim is named locally as ‘lovely’ neighbour

A neighbourhood has been left “reeling” after a homicide investigation was launched into the dying of a 76-year-old lady in a flat in East London.

The Metropolitan Police Service introduced that the 76-year-old victim died on the scene after police have been referred to as to a house in Kent Street, Newham, on Thursday night (March 25).

A person in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of homicide and stays in police custody.

The 76-year-old lady has since been named locally as Phyllis Nelson.

Neighbour Emma Martin, 32, stated she was a caring individual to dwell subsequent door to.

Breaking down in tears, she stated: “She [Phyllis] was so pretty.

“She was all the time telling me off for not taking care of the backyard and so I’ve been actually making an effort over the previous couple of weeks.

The Met stated the person arrested and the 76-year-old lady have been recognized to one another.

Officers have been initially referred to as to the house at 10.18pm, and so they attended together with London Ambulance Service paramedics.

Police stated the victim’s subsequent of kin have been informed and investigations are persevering with.

Against the law scene has been put up in Kent Street.

Police have appealed for data, and anybody that may assist is requested to name 101 and quote the reference CAD 7896/25 Mar.
