Pensioner’s body recovered from River Lea in north-east London

he body of a pensioner has been recovered from the River Lea in north-east London.

The man, aged in his 70s, was found in the water close to Harrington Hill in Hackney on Wednesday afternoon.

His loss of life is being handled as unexplained, however not suspicious. His subsequent of kin has been knowledgeable.

Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing, a Met Police spokesman mentioned.

He added: “Police have been known as at roughly 1:39pm on Wednesday, March 17 to stories of a body in the River Lea, close to Harrington Hill in Hackney.

“Officers attended together with London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade.

“A person in his 70s was pronounced loss of life on the scene.”
