The London street ‘so unhealthy the only way to get a salad is in a burger’

Redbridge Council has been urged to take motion over “the most unhealthy street in the borough”.

Concerned resident Linda Ray says the only way to get a salad in Ilford Lane is in a burger and fears schoolchildren haven’t any wholesome choices out there.

After seeing that one other two takeaways are due to open to add to the 39 already buying and selling on the mile-long street – one each 50m in the event that they had been unfold out – she contacted council chief Jas Athwal.

Ms Ray, 49, who has lived in the space since 1987, stated: “You can’t get a salad in Ilford Lane until it’s in a burger.

Ms Ray stated she was notably involved given the excessive charges of diabetes in Redbridge, with virtually one in 10 residents affected by the situation in 2019.

On Twitter, responding to the imminent opening of a new takeaway, Burger Base, she added: “Does Ilford Lane want one other quick meals bar? This is the most unhealthy street in Redbridge.

Redbridge Council can’t management which companies open in the borough until they require a licence, for instance to keep open later than regular or to promote alcohol.
