Work has began on Avanti West Coast’s fleet of recent trains to exchange the Voyager fleet.
The new trains will serve clients alongside the West Coast Main Line together with London, the Midlands, North Wales, Liverpool and Lancashire.
New welding and portray services will likely be used to construct the following technology of intercity trains for Avanti West Coast and East Midlands Railway.
Around 40 workers together with newly graduated welders and painters will likely be finishing the excessive-tech aluminium carriage shells, that are a signature of Hitachi’s intercity fleets.
The new fleet will comprise of 10 Class 807 seven carriage electrical trains and 13 Class 805 5 carriage bi-mode trains, the latter resulting from change the present diesel Voyager trains in 2022 and ship a 61% discount in carbon emissions.

The work being undertaken on the manufacturing facility is a part of Hitachi Rail’s funding at Newton Aycliffe within the North East – which now totals £110million.
Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps, stated: “It is becoming that Hitachi Rail are constructing the following technology of intercity trains in County Durham, a spot with a proud and illustrious railway heritage.”
