Police have launched a brand new operation to cease gangs profiting from kind-hearted residents in East London.
Organised crime teams are flocking to Ilford posing as beggars (some with faked disabilities, accidents and backstories) to rake within the money.
Redbridge councillor, Khayer Chowdhury, mentioned the gangs are making a lot revenue because residents are too “beneficiant”.
He revealed the borough is rolling out a “warmth map” and can goal unlawful begging in worst-hit areas.
Cllr Chowdhury, who can also be Cabinet Member for Crime, Public Safety, & Community Cohesion, mentioned: “I need to remind residents that organised begging gangs come to Ilford because we are a beneficiant borough – If they stopped earning money, they would go away.
“So my request to residents is that this: please assist native tough sleeping charities as a substitute of giving cash to beggars on the streets.
